WORK HOLIDAYS / ART PRISON PDF Print E-mail

This is how we imagine Knust’s WORK HOLIDAYS
to take place

The invited artist spends a working period of about 14 days at Extrapool / Knust.
During this time a publication ("ART PRISON") is collaboratively printed and made.

For this new programme of WORK HOLIDAYS
Knust is interested in establishing a vivid collaboration and dialogue with each of the chosen artists – and we expect for books to be newly made or put together for this publication, rather than only printing off "ready-made" work.
What we are hoping for is that spending some time in our print workshop and at Extrapool, getting to know Knust's stencil printing technique, seeing the book making facilities we can offer and all other actual things might influence the appearance of the final publication.

WORK HOLIDAYS include free accommodation: the artists will stay in one of our two beautiful guest rooms on the top floor in the building of Extrapool.
WORK HOLIDAYS also include return travel.

Extrapool offers work- and living spaces: the artists are very welcome to use any of the workspaces and a shared kitchen is available for use as well.

The number of copies of the publication, which is made during the WORK HOLIDAYS,
depends on the specifics and particularities of the book the artist wants to make. The artist gets 10 % of the finished books.

Period of preparation:

What we'd ask for from the artist who is going to stay and work at Knust as a first step in the process of making the publication is a rather vague idea what the publication might be like.
This can be absolutely anti-serious or fictional, and is not meant to be a promise that meticulously has to be fulfilled in the end.
As well the prepared document of the publication has to be delivered well in advance: this is important because only then a dialogue can take place and we can only then discuss the actual modalities of the publication together (such as: colours, size, binding, content, paper etc etc).
