Dejima (Deshima)X-mas
Door:
Toyoko Shimada,Meeuw and Omfo
22 december 16.00 uur -19.00 uur dubbele slimtarra nederlands/japanse theeceremonie met yingyang-taart en sushi! plus russische electro pop.
Concept:
Dejima, which litteraly means a projecting island, was the first hot spot of cross culture between Nippon (Japan) and Oranda (The Netherlands) between 1639 and 1853. It was a constructed island in the bay of Nagasaki in Kyushu Island, where only the Dutch were allowed to stay in the time of National Isolation of
Japan. The Netherlands became the only one window of European Culture to Japan. In winter 2002, in this intimate Extrapool, a Japanese Alice packaged by the Rising Sun and a Dutch Seagull flying over the windowmills celebrate Dejima (Deshima) X-mas with their new wallpaper. And a Russian electro pop musician baptised with the water of the Black Sea accompanies them. More over there are a crosscultural tea-ceremony, Ying-Yang Cake, Sushi, Sake and plenty of coziness. West meets East. This is a new Christmas tale in a high-tech and ecological time at the dawn of the 21st century.
Enjoy!
